Weather station status

The Dalham weather station started capturing weather data on 27th May 2022.

Technical issues history:

11th March 2023 – light sensor failed – new one on order. Light readings suspended until the new sensor is received.

14th March 2023 15:30pm light sensor replaced and tested

4th June 2023 1.26am Power cut. Weather service restored 8.13am. Must find a way to automate start up processes. Now automated.

July 2023 Spiders making webs in the rain gauge! I have glued wire mesh over holes but they bend it out of the way!

30th July 2023 Power cut

7th September 2023 Unknown glitch at 9:06am. Reboot resumed data at 11:39am

29th November 2023 – despite surviving 2 power cots in recent days the weatherstation has a problem. A sensor is failing a self test. As I am currently in Guinea Bissau I cannot change it. Multiple remote reboots haven’t solved the problem.

30th November 2023 13:00 rebooted and working again. Unsure why!

27th December 2024 Sensor failing self test again. Sorted itself out at 4:30am on 28th

31st January 2024 2 days of sensor self test failure. Resolved itself today. Numerous Reboots ineffective previously.

1st March 2024 to 3rd March – light sensor self test failure. Removed sensor data from code and working again.

4th March 2024 temperature and pressure sensor now giving errors. It gives the most data so not going to remove it. I suspect the sensors are suffering from the wettest February on record. Sensor problem resolved itself, just not sure for how long.

7th March 2024 stopped working with sensor error. Will fix it early April.

26th March 2024 mysteriously reawakened. Don’t know for how long

27th March 2024 sensor self test failure again. Spare one ordered to fit.

5th April 2024 difficult problem to diagnose but the light sensor was disabling the temperature/pressure sensor. Light sensor removed pro tem and new one on order

7th April 2024 9:50am new light sensor fitted

8th April 2024 caused a temperature spike by heat shrink wrapping some wires

8th May 2024 one hour power cut due to meter change

18th May 2024 power cut chaos caused by trees on powerlines

26th August 2024 SSL certificate problem with Wunderground. Now resolved with http instead https

10th September 2024 – sensor problem. fixed on 12th September.

2nd October 2024 – sensor problem repeated from 7am to 10am

3rd October 2024 – repeat of sensor problem 12noon to 4pm

8th October 2024 – 3am to 9am further disruption. Suspect cable fault. Cables to be replaced.

18th October 2024 – device address conflict resolved following upgrades.
